Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil + 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 block tofu cubed

COATING #1

  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 1/2 tsp five spice
  • 1 tsp chilli
  • 1/2 tsp salt

MARINADE #2

  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 2 tbsp water to mix
  • 1 tbsp Dark Soya Sauce
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

TOPPINGS

  • Black or White Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 4 spring onions chopped.

Instructions

  1. Method
  2. Cube your tofu. Toss it in the first coating. Heat up your pan and add the oil, then pop in your tofu for fry #1.
  3. While it is frying make your Marinade #2. Dissolve the cornflour into water, add the soya and maple syrup.
  4. When your tofu is browned on all sides, pop into the second marinade. Make sure your tofu is evenly coated before you put back into your pan for the second sizzle.
  5. In a small pan, toss in some black sesame seeds and toast for a couple of minutes. Then transfer into. small bowl. This will be used for topping off tofu later.
  6. When your tofu is nice and crispy and stick, remove from the pan.
  7. Add a dollop of sweet chilli sauce.
  8. Sprinkle over your toasted sesame.
  9. Finally toss on your spring onions.
